There are many ways to clean your home that are better for the environment then those chemical filled cleansers you find at the store.  Baking soda has so many uses that I thought it deserved a blog post all of its own!  Here are 10 ways you can use this affordable everyday item to clean up naturally.

  1. Add baking soda to vinegar in a drain to remove a clog.
  2. Add 1/2 cup baking soda to your laundry to give your regular detergent a boost.
  3. Dust on your carpet and then vacuum to remove odors and create a fresh scent in your home.
  4. Place an open box in your refrigerator to remove odors.
  5. Sprinkle in a cat litter box for odor removal.
  6. Make toothpaste - just add some hydrogen peroxide!
  7. A refreshing facial scrub can be made with 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water.
  8. Clean all over your house by applying baking soda to a sponge and adding a little water.
  9. Mix with water and soak coffee and tea pots to remove stains.
  10. Sprinkle on a sponge and use to scrub store bought produce

I never heard of using it to scrub produce... I assume that is to remove pesticide residue. Sure would be a lot cheaper than the produce spray I buy now!
