It is that time of year - when I go into stores to get my weekly necessities I am overhearing conversations about gift budgets and holiday shopping.  Then today while on the phone with my Mom she asked me for an idea for a gift from my Grandmother.  I honestly couldn't think of anything.  There isn't a gadget on my list that I want, and anything I need for work or home I purchase at the time I need it.

I have a personality where if I really like something I will buy it as long as the cost is something I can afford without pulling out my charge card.  I am not patient enough to wait around for sales on those must-have items, although they are few and far between.  I am frugal with the day to day things in my life because I am a clutter hater and don't like to bring anything into my home that isn't gorgeous or useful.  I will admit to needing some more decorative nesting pieces in my home, but I won't buy something that I don't absolutely adore.  So the walls aren't full, I have plenty of closet space, and the refrigerator is never bursting at the seams because I hate throwing food away.

I wrote an article earlier this month about Healthy Life Holiday Gifts on a Budget.  While it seems like everyone is on a budget these days I also wanted to make the point that you don't have to give "things" during the holidays.  You can give experiences or even to charity to celebrate the giving spirit of the season.  You also don't have to break the bank.  I am a believer that credit cards are for emergencies, and won't be pulling out mine this year for any holiday gifts.  I will be making a donation in my family's name to a charity to help give back to a world that has given me so much.

However, my thoughts don't solve the problem.  My Grandmother won't be happy without buying me a physical gift, and I want to make her shopping experience a little bit easier.  So what will I ask for?  Maybe some fuzzy slippers.  Suggestions are welcome!
