Interview : An Organic Wife

Eating more organic foods is a goal of mine for this year, and in my quest to educate myself more on the topic I came across Christina of An Organic Wife and thought she would be a great interview candidate.

Have you always eaten organically, if not when did you start?
My husband I started eating organic in the spring of 2010. I've actually been buying organic potatoes for a few years now. I wasn't even sure why. I just saw that my grocery store had that option, and they were about the same price, so I always got them.
Moving to an organic lifestyle can be overwhelming to a beginner, where is a good place to start?
I always say produce is the best place to start, because fruits and vegetables are the 'direct source' of pesticides and other chemicals. I also think organic produce tastes so much better, so it gets people motivated and excited about the changes they are making.
What are some of your favorite recipes?

I really enjoy baking desserts, and luckily my husband enjoys eating them! The Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies are one of my personal favorites. My best recipe is probably my 77 Carrot Cake - everyone has raved about it.
What inspires you to blog?
I love writing; I was an English major in college. I always wondered what I would do with that. When I started becoming passionate about an organic and sustainable lifestyle, I thought that blogging would be a perfect outlet that would allow me to share what I knew and what I was learning with others.
What is a usual day in your world like?
I'm up early! I usually blog in the morning. I work a typical 8-5 office job. Then I come home, work out, play with my dog and two bunnies (my other loves!), make dinner, and hang out with my husband (my first love!). My weekends are when I get really "foodie." I do my grocery shopping, go to the farmers' market, and do lots of cooking and baking. That's when I make big batches of bread, pizza dough, or something like that, that I can freeze and use later.
Your blog has a fantastic deals section! How often is it updated, and where is your favorite source for organic discounts?
Copyright Brooke Becker
I update the deals section every Wednesday. That is when most stores start their weekly ad cycles. Oklahoma City currently does not have a great selection of organic foods or places to get them. That will be changing soon as Sunflower Farmers' Market and Whole Foods will be opening this fall! I'm really excited about Sunflower, it looks like they have some good sale prices. My favorite place for organic deals right now is my local farmers' market - and I'm sure that will never change! It's always cheaper to buy in season, and everything is so fresh, that I rarely have anything go to waste.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I hope to continue to blog about organic foods, sustainable living, and health issues! I really love what I do, and it makes me happy when I hear that I've provided information that helps someone make a healthy choice. I would also like to write for magazines and newspapers, and maybe even write my own book or cookbook someday!

I found her blog a couple years ago and have been wanting to try one of the recipes: 'real food fudge with homemade marshmallow fluff'. I finally have the occasion to try it out, but her blog seems to be gone! Does anyone know where I can find her recipes online?
